sweet little sickie

Sweet Elise.  She has a bad cold and cough.  She was up every couple hours last night...little sweetheart.

She wakes up crying and says "Need you, Mommy.   Not feel good."
So I go in and give her a drink of water.
Elise:  "This water taste so good."
Me:  "Do you want Mommy to rockie for a few minutes?"
Elise:  "Go back in my bed with Daisy"

Repeat a couple times.

This morning:  "Lay my cheek on this pillow watch Mickey.  Make me feel much better.  'Punzel blankie keep me warm."

Neither of us changed out of our pajamas all day.  By the end of the day (with a couple doses of Motrin) she was doing much better.  I should probably shower now.

snow and forts

We got a LOT of snow the last week.
(Of course - now it's almost gone again...)

We went and got Elise her own little shovel.  She was super excited and carried it all around the store and pretended to shovel while we finished our shopping.  It was hilarious.

"push me mommy"

She was a huge "help" - if you know what I mean...

"more snow on my shovel mommy - put snow over here"

Somebody (ahem - Elise) spilled on the couch so I had to wash some of the cushion covers.  We took all the cushions off and Daddy built a pretty awesome fort.  So fun.  I loved making forts when I was little.

she's home! and happy birthday sis!

Today we went to the airport to pick up my mom who has been in Hawaii for the last two weeks.  She was really sick of walking on the beach, drinking Mai Tais, and snorkeling with sea turtles and was dying to come home to the white-out, below-freezing conditions that we live in.  Uh-huh.

The airport is a really exciting place for a two year old.  There are airplanes to see, a kids area, balloons that people let go and are hanging out near the ceiling.
("I go up there - so so high get balloon Mommy")

Grandma brought her some shell necklaces, hair clips, and a hula dancer barbie.  She dances around to Hawaiian music - it's super cute.  Oh -- and M&Ms.

"Elise Goote get Grandma off on airplane"

Annnnnnd...It's Lauren's birthday!  Happy Birthday Sis!

(I have no idea why this video is so wiggly)

We went to the lake to play after we had lunch (at Panera - where else) - She didn't get a nap today and fell asleep on the way home.  Sweetheart.

i'm so cold

Enjoy your last few days in Hawaii, Mom.  This is what you have to look forward to this week.  Tomorrow the high is 12.  TWELVE.

We picked up Papa at the airport Saturday.  He didn't disappoint - he had M&Ms in his pocket and two new books in his bag.   After he told Elise about swimming with turtles, she is now so obsessed about "go-ning swimming with Papa" to the point where he had to google open swimming pools in Hudsonville.

It is SO snowy today Aubrey came over to kill some time before her babysitting job this afternoon instead of driving back out to the lake.   Elise needed to sit on her lap and watch a Daisy - and then she needed the grandma on her lap from her dollhouse, too.

Aubrey has all her bandages off her arm from her surgery.  Elise does NOT like to see the scar.  She put stickers - band-aids - over the whole thing.

"These band-aids make Auntie Aubee's owie arm all better"

her best friend daisy

Elise loves her Daisy.   She insists we put Daisy next to her at the table.  She eventually had to move so I could eat dinner.  And Elise set the table.  I think she used all the forks.

"Daisy my friend.  Daisy watch this show with me - sit by me on couch."

"Help Daisy paint."
(Totally not kidding when I say we paint all.the.time.  And Elise always messes up my picture.   The nerve.)

A few more gems from our funny girl this week:

[playing tea party:]
"mix mix mix, this tea delicious."

[randomly while painting:]
"not everybody get me.  sit on mommy's lap be safe."

[walking into the grocery store:]
"that car chase me.  mommy keep me safe."

[when daddy comes home from work:]
"daddy's home dinnertime!  i love my daddy."

[going upstairs to go to bed:]
"go upstairs.  mommy not pinch my buns.  not pinch my buns, daddy."
(I can't help it.  Her buns are just so perfectly pinch-able.)

painting pictures and some random videos

Auntie Lauren's here.   And somebody refused to take a nap today - I think she was too excited.  She was still awake when Lauren got here so Lauren got to go in and get her.  She was super happy about that.

Isn't that the cutest ponytail ever??

Elise loves painting.  We paint all.the.time.

Grandma & Grandpa Goote came over to visit tonight while all the sisters went to see a movie.  Elise was pretty excited about that too.  :-)

I know not very many people care about videos - but Lauren insists I put them up for the 5 people that love them.   So here you go.

for my mom...

...who requested pictures every day.

(I doubt I will keep this up for two weeks...sorry Mom)

This happens every night.  I'm pretty sure Nick got a rug burn on his face.

For Auntie Lauren:

she says funny things

On the way to visit Aubrey [who had surgery on her arm]:
Elise:  'Ise Goote Mommy's happy friend.  Auntie Aubee's happy friend too. And Auntie WoWo.  And Ama too.  And Uncle Carl.

Waiting to ride Sandy - the pony at Meijer:
Elise:  That little boy riding Sandy.  Almost my turn.  Thank you Mommy.

Going into Costco:
Elise:  Find Ama!  Get Ama's medicine.  Help feel better.
[Apparently we do this a lot more than I thought...]

Whenever she wakes up:
Elise:  Mommy come in my room!  Daytime now!  So happy watch Daisy!
Mommy pick up me go downstairs!
[Lately she's been waking up super early (like 5:30-6:30) - I just go into her room and tell her it's still nighttime, fix her blankets, and she goes back to sleep for at least another hour or two.  Some people are telling me this is not normal.]

We've been sorta bored lately.  My mom is gone for two weeks (in Hawaii - probably drinking something out of a coconut) so our main source of entertainment and free lunch is gone.   We busted out the tent where she likes to have picnics with Daisy.  Also all three (Elise, me, Nick) of us can fit in there.  It's hilarious.

chugga chugga

Elise has been a little sick for the past week so I have no new pictures.    We've just been camping out watching Tangled and playing with our new toys.  Here she's enjoying her new train set from Christmas...you'd never believe she'd had a crazy high fever just the night before.
