Over the Top

Elise got dressed up today.
We got this little Gymboree onesie the day of my ultrasound when we found out she was a girl, and it's just been hanging in the closet for a special occasion. But really, what occasion calls for an outfit with a tutu? So we got all dressed up for a trip to Lowes and an afternoon at Grandmas. And mostly a picture before it's too small! We went all out: headband, tutu, Babylegs, and ballerina shoes. It was a little ridiculous.

My mom thought this picture made her thighs look big. They are sporting some pretty cute rolls lately....

Emily & Stace - I can't remember who loaned me these Babylegs, but they are SO cute I was cracking up whenever I looked at her. Too cute. And I can remember Maddie wearing these little shoes!

Happy Girl

Yesterday Elise visited her Grandpa & Grandma Goote at school. Grandpa G was very happy to give Elise the grand tour - she was very popular!

Elise slept from 9pm to 9am last night - only getting up twice to eat! Probably because she was awake pretty much all day yesterday and was completely worn out. She was SO happy this morning.

2 Months Old

Elise had her two month doctors appointment today.

(FYI - this post will be boring unless you are a family member who cares about this stuff)

2 Month Stats:
Weight: 10 lbs 4 oz (34th percentile)
Height: 21.5" (18th percentile)
Head Circumference: 37 cm (10th percentile)

She also got two shots in her chubby little thighs and one oral vaccine. Poor thing. Doctor says she doing really good though - she was super impressed with the 3lb 4oz weight gain in the last month. Haha...Mama's got some gooooood milk.

And I don't even have a picture of her today because I think the doctor's appointment and the shots wore her out. Poor little girlie has been cashed out in the bouncy seat (surprise) and on me all day. And y'all have seen enough pictures of Elise asleep in the bouncy seat. Sure is cute though.

Darn you, Sleep Sheep

Last night I was putting Elise to bed. We were up in her room and she was nursing. I kept hearing some stupid kids outside yelling "whoohoo! whoohoo!" I figured - they're stupid kids, they'll shut up soon. 20 minutes later they had still not stopped "whoohoo-ing". I'm getting mad. Elise is not sleepy and is distracted by the whoohoos, and I'm exhausted. I get so mad I get Elise, walk downstairs and [very angrily] tell Nick to "find whoever is making that noise and make them stop immediately". He walks outside, on the deck, around the house and then comes upstairs to tell me I'm nuts, but he can hear it too! Turns out when Nick was upstairs earlier he had kicked the Sleep Sheep into "whale mode". (yes, kicked. The Sleep Sheep is on the floor because Elise will only go to sleep in the vibrating bouncy seat.) The whoohoo-ing was the "soothing" sound of the orca whale. Uh-huh...whale sounds can apparently drive me to insanity.

Darn you, Sleep Sheep.
(I actually love this thing - just not in "whale mode")

I also love this Seahorse. It will calm the girl down when nothing else will. It lights up and plays these really soft lullabies that seriously put me to sleep. And it plays for five minutes so if I start it right after I transfer her to her bed (a.k.a. bouncy seat) she will usually be sound asleep by the time it's done playing. Miracle Seahorse I tell you.

Anyone have any tips for getting a baby to sleep in her actual crib? Because I have a really good one that's not getting any use.

Exhibit A: Baby sleeping peacefully in bouncy seat.

And....just a cute picture of my girl resting during tummy time.

Big Night

Believe it or not - Elise spent most of the hour before this picture screaming. She was not having it last night. We even walked for over an hour outside in the Baby Bjorn. We also figured out Elise will roll from her tummy to her back when she is super happy or super mad. Last night she was super mad - but Nick and I both saw her roll over!

The bath was the first calming step towards bedtime (yay!). Once she was down for the night, Elise slept from 9:30 - 2, and then 2:30 -6! Big girl! We're making progress.

Baby Bjorn

Elise fell asleep in the Baby Bjorn yesterday.

Oh, and her hands were cold so we put socks on them.

Doesn't she look comfy?

Check out her cute onesie!

4:30 am

It's 4:30 am. Elise has been awake for an hour. No end in sight. She is fed and changed. I spent the last hour in a dark room with a "sounds from nature" sound machine. She squirmed and kicked and grunted for the entire time (even while nursing) so I moved downstairs so Nick could sleep. The kid is NOT TIRED. She's had gas drops and a bottle. What the heck Elise. I hate everyone who says their baby sleeps through the night at 8 weeks.

Oh look, the 5am news is almost on...

(almost) Rolling Over

Make video montages at www.OneTrueMedia.com

Elise actually rolled over once a few days ago - but I think it was an accident because I can't get her to do it again! She's SO close!

7 weeks old...

Just some pictures from today...

We went for our first walk around the neighborhood with Ollie.
Elise was loving it so much she was falling asleep!

And we're getting some thigh rolls... :-)
(baby socks never stay on!)

Holland

Yesterday we drove out to Holland to visit Grandpa Tony & Grandma Jane. Grandma has made Elise some of the most beautiful and precious gifts ever. She's made us some adorable little booties, a gorgeous blanket, and a little sweater and hat!

Elise pretty much slept the whole time. Check out her cute booties!

Labor Day

Labor Day so far has been really rainy, so we're spending a nice cozy day at home. Elise is currently passed out in her bouncy seat, which is where she's been spending most of her nights lately. If you put her in there she falls asleep immediately. Put her back in her bed at night and she fusses and grunts for a half hour before I finally give up, go get her and she falls asleep on me. Bouncy seat = more sleep for Mommy & Elise. Win-win.

Here's a few pictures we've taken lately...

She loves to hold her head up and look around lately so we tried out the Bumbo! She had fun for about five minutes and then got sick of it. She looks completely freaked out in this picture - I think it's the flash. Cracks me up.

Elise went to church for the first time yesterday - she did so good and slept the whole time! She's sporting another super cute outfit thanks to our cousins!

Hanging out with Daddy at night...

Grandpa & Grandma Goote took this adorable picture when they were babysitting last week!

We've been doing a little tummy time today...

Check out that baby mullet!

And thanks for all the suggestions on the nighttime sleeping...they've been working pretty well!
