little update

Elise was a little sick last week.  She kept falling asleep in the car....

You know you're from Michigan when your three-year-old says "whoa it's super warm out here" when it's 39 degrees.

Picked these up at the dutch store last week.
Serious childhood memories.  Both of eating these on toast and sneakily pouring them into my mouth when no one is looking.  Even though I don't have to be sneaky anymore I still feel a little naughty when I do it.

We had Ollie at our house last week when Sarah & Adam were on vacation.
Brought back memories of when he was ours - and positively reinforced the decision that we don't need a dog.  Nick and Elise will miss him a little more than me.  He's cute though - and really no trouble at all.

My mom got Elise this boa in the half-off section at Hobby Lobby.
I now have a bazillion pink feathers floating all over my house.

We went over to our friend Nicolynn's house for a birthday donut.
She turned three!

Seriously the cutest.
She always sits here at Potbelly while we order our sandwiches.
This little shirt is borderline too small and it makes me way sadder than it should.

Serious concentration for the $1 Sofia the First painting kit from the Target dollar bin.

I really wanted a beer the other night while we watched House of Cards.  It just wasn't the same.  It tasted really good though.

Sweetheart sings all the time.  This is the "I love my family" song.

big news around here

We are SO happy and thrilled to announce we will soon be a family of FOUR!

Elise is excited.  Although, when I took this picture she had no idea what this board said.  It was just actually sunny in our living room so I went for it.

When we actually told her she didn't really care.
We got her a necklace that says "big sis" on it.  I asked her if she wanted to wear it and she says "not really".  To be fair, she's been sorta sick these past few days and not really into anything.

We are so excited!

snowiest.winter.ever.

Nick spent last weekend driving to Chicago and back helping to move Auntie Sarah & Uncle Adam.    They are moving there so Adam can go to fancy nurse anesthetist school.  (Thank you Lord for spell check.)  So Elise and I went and stayed at the Lake for two nights.

Elise was in heaven.
My parents were overtaken by their favorite three year old for 48 hours.
I think they loved it too.  ;-)

We tried to play outside.  Tried.  We caught some snowflakes on our tongue.

We shoveled a little.  Note the snow behind Elise is taller than she is.

She wanted to go sledding so bad.
We could barely walk in the snow.

Grandpa attempted to carry her up the hill.
The snowdrifts were almost waist deep.

We couldn't pull her on the sled either.  It would sink right in and she would roll off.   Here she's probably yelling "I can do it!! I will just crawl over there!"

Grandpa tried to make a sledding path.  No dice.

So we gave up and went inside for hot chocolate.

we're still here

We were supposed to pick up my mom and dad from the airport last week - but their plane was super late (due to ice and snow of course) so we weren't able to make it before bedtime.
Elise was really really sad.

We've been keeping busy.  I sent in a few pictures of Elise on the Meijer pony.  Maybe they'll make it on the commercial.  Probably - she's pretty much the cutest.

This girl always needs to get every last drop of ice cream.

More painting.  Of course.

We spent a snow day last week getting beautiful.
We did all of our fingers and toes.  And we pretended to do Lambie's.

This is my mailbox.
It's gotten higher since.

Our Grandpa Goote is in the hospital.  (He's doing much better now - should be coming home tomorrow!)  We've been to visit him a few times - Doc McStuffins and our doctor bag have had to come to do a few check-ups.  It's pretty funny.

She gets SO excited when her lips "are the same color as Mommy's!".

Yesterday we attempted to play in the deep deep snow at Green Lake. It was pretty funny - I'll get some more pictures up soon!
