weekend pics

Sunday we headed out to the lake.  Such a fun day.

Grandma keeps sunglasses on the boat just for her.

She's almost FOUR.  So crazy.

She went on a tube right with her buddies Ava and Vivian.
So fun to have friends right next door.

Summer stop going so fast!

a little catch-up

It's been pretty busy over here.

Lots of pool time.  Lots of cute little swimsuit wedgies.

She's been doing this thing where she says she "can't swallow" her food.
Things she has always loved like watermelon and green beans.
We don't let her spit it out anymore.  So this night she sat at the table - chewed wad of green beans in her cheek - and proceeded to fall asleep.   Girlfriend went straight to bed.

Corn husking on the porch.

I did a little interview with Elise for Father's day.
These are her answers - word for word.

Tonight we all went to Holland for dinner for Aubrey's birthday (a little late).

A stranger told me I looked cute.  I almost cried.

elise goes to the zoo

Last Friday G&G Goote took Elise to the zoo.
I spent the morning buying pregnant lady bras.  Fun times.

I kept getting picture updates.
I'm pretty sure she had fun.

It was barely 60 degrees but girlfriend wanted ice cream.
Grandpa & Grandma delivered.

Thanks guys! She had SUCH a fun time.

it's lake season

We've been living it up the last week.
Lots of time at the lake.  And lots of popcicles.

She does this all day.
This week I taught her to make drippy trees with the sand.
She thinks I'm super awesome.

She has a little kayak.  My mom ties a rope to her kayak and they go all around.  She even paddles.  Sometimes.

It was really super sunny.

Lauren was here this weekend!  She came into town for Aubrey's first bridal shower.  Fancy.

Grandma & Grandpa Goote babysat last night and Elise got to stay up super late.  Combine that with a day at the lake and you get this at 6:30.  Comfy, right?

vintage desk re-do [and a room tour]

So it's only a matter of time before we will need our big comfy rocking chair in Baby Sister's room.  Because I think I remember babies getting up a lot at night.  And wanting food and clean diapers and stuff.  Ugh - so needy (kidding).   I better re-read my "What to Expect" book...

I wanted something super cute in Elise's room to fill the void of the giant chair.   I wanted an old school desk to kind of go with the vintage-y look of her room.  And as luck would have it - I have super awesome teacher in-laws who I texted with my idea, and proceeded to drop off my perfect desk within the week.   Who knew these were hiding in a West Side Christian attic?

They dropped off this desk - and while pretty cute to begin with it was pretty dirty and the paint was super scratched up.  So I cleaned it and sanded it and taped it up for spray paint.  This beauty (which I got for free) was completely transformed for less than $15 dollars.  Everyone go tell Nick how thrifty I am.

So now there's no more baby stuff in Elise's room.  A little sad.  But without the eyesore that is the rocking chair I can finally call her room "done".

My mom and Lauren wallpapered her wall right after we moved in.
It's really just 12x12 scrapbook paper with wallpaper paste.
I sat in a chair and handed them paper - because I was all on chemo and stuff.

Look at that beauty...

Her bed and dressers were mine when I was little.
I just painted them white and changed the hardware.

Lauren actually found the old windowpane at a flea market.  Or yard sale.  Or something.  She likes those kinds of things.  AND she made her lampshade.   After her wall was done I could not for the life of me find any bedding to go with it.  Or curtains.  So I made them.

Sometimes I just go in here to look at it for a few minutes.
Next project:  Baby Sister's room!

THANK YOU to Jim & Judy for finding this desk for me (and Elise)!
