She's got it. She's crawling! Not very fast and a little shaky, but she can do it! It's way easier on carpet than on Grandma's wood floors. We took her pants off thinking that would help - it didn't really.

Rainy Day
Today has been so rainy! We've just been hanging out.
"Is Daddy home yet?"
"Is Daddy home yet?"
Elise likes to help Mommy make dinner in the kitchen. She claps about everything now. She doesn't really get that it's a happy thing though. On Monday at her 9 Month appointment she started clapping while crying after her shot! For those that are interested - her stats:
Weight: 18.9 lbs (47%)
Height: 27 inches (23%)
And this is also her new thing lately. If you see it in person it is quite hilarious - but it just makes for a weird picture. She stiffens her whole body and clenches her jaw and holds everything really stiff and shakes a little. She knows we think it's funny so she does it a lot.... little weirdo.

Hilarious
A Mother's Prayer for Her Child by Tina Fey
“First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is offered, may she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half And stick with Beer.
Guide her, protect her when crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.
Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels. What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit.
May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers.
Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen. Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait.
O Lord, break the Internet forever, that she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed.
And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it.
And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back. “My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.
Amen.”
-Tina Fey
Happy Easter!
She rolled all around at Great Grandmas.... (Notice I didn't say crawl... she mostly rolls around and scooches backwards.)
And chewed on her hand. Those teeth on the top are such a pain!

9 Months Old!!
I cannot believe my sweet girl is 9 months old! We love you SO much Elise!
You never get how much people love their kids until you have one of your own. I LOVE this girl. And I love you Mom for loving me this much!

If you look SUPER close you can seen some new teeth on the top. She is officially getting fangs instead of her two front teeth. Poor thing, today she was feeling it too. Thank goodness for Tylenol.

Trip to Springfield!
On Sunday night we left at bedtime to drive to Springfield to see my Auntie Gracie, cousin Stacy and her girlies! When we were little we would always meet in Springfield (halfway between us), so it is so fun to do it with our kids now. Auntie Gracie even made puppy chow.
Last time we met my cousin Emily we drove at bedtime and Elise slept the whole way. She has since decided that she does not like to sleep in her carseat, so we eventually gave up and just entertained her until we got there. She did really well, and even figured out how to use my mom's ipad... sort of.
[P.S. to Grandpa: Elise needs an ipad for her birthday. Just an idea. kidding.....]
We had SO much fun! Elise just loves her cousin Maddie. As soon as she got there Elise had to give her a hug. Maddie even gave her bites of her blueberry muffin.
We even attempted taking this crowd out for lunch. It was pretty successful overall and so fun!

Elise LOVES swimming. She was in there for hours. She is even a little bit braver than her bigger cousins Elle & Lola. They had more fun playing with cups. Aren't these girls just the CUTEST??
Our ride home was pretty interesting too. Elise slept the first 30 minutes, and then decided she was done with that. We figured out she has about a 30 second attention span so we were constantly giving her new stuff to play with. Our last resorts included letting her go to town on a few dum dum suckers and playing with the ice from our drink cups. She was pretty damp and really sticky when we got home.
She did so well, and after about three hours we stopped for gas and a snack. Elise had JUST fallen asleep and we heard a really loud POP. Yep. The tire. Poor Elise woke up and our tire pressure slowly went down to nothing. We pulled over to a gas station where Elise and I walked around in the store while my mom tried the fix-a-flat. Got back on the highway and the tire is still losing air. Of course we couldn't pull over at just any exit - we had to find a Panera. I'm freaking out, and my mom is looking for a latte. At Panera we waited for AAA, who pumped up our tire enough to drive to the nearest Chevy dealership because our car does not have a spare tire. (What kind of car doesn't have a spare tire??). We arrive at the dealership at 4:59. They close at 5. They were kind enough to fix our tire, and a half hour later we were back on the road. Sweet Elise was so great. She was just happy to be out of her carseat I think.

Sneak Peek
We had Elise's 9 month pictures taken this week. My cousin Erin does them at her house. She was much more cooperative than the last time we attempted them.
This is one of the outtakes from last November:

They're Back!
Grandpa and Grandma Goote are back from their vacation! [Don't they look tan?? Jealous.]
They came over after school to play and have dinner. They sure missed our little Elise!

We gave Elise her own little bowl.
This morning Elise scooched herself backwards all the way down the hall. The wood floor is much easier to slide on than carpet. Although at that level I realized I really need to clean my floors better. Oopsies.

Weekend Recap
Elise's hair is actually pretty long! It's just SO thin she looks a little bald still.
It was SO NICE out today. We're talking 80's in April people. Too bad it will be 60 and rainy tomorrow. We still enjoyed our little taste of summer! Here's Daddy & Elise in their matching Polo shirts.

Full of Joy
That's how I would describe Elise. Full of joy. The girl is just happy to be alive.
She was a little worried with her friend Jude though. He tried to kiss her.

Butterflies are Blooming
We have been quite the cultured crowd lately. On Monday we went out for my mom's new favorite food: sushi (for her birthday! Happy Birthday Mom!). Although we discovered that we really only like the California rolls and definitely not raw salmon. Looks like it's Costco sushi for us from now on. That stuff is awesome and fully cooked.
But look at how fancy we were! The glass even lit up.

Auntie Lauren just can't stay away from this babe. She had a few days off so she drove up to see us! Actually I'm pretty sure she just came for Elise.
